Cornwall Mining Alliance members are invited to sign-up for a hand’s on workshop GIS training day on Tuesday 10 September. The one day course will be run by Clear Mapping Company, based in Penryn, and is kindly supported by Mining Alliance member, Wardell Armstrong International Ltd.

The ‘QGIS for Beginners’ course will enable attendees with no prior experience to come away being able to create useful maps and plans for reports. To make this beginner’s level course as useful as possible to CMA members, there will be the opportunity to speak to the course leader about their specific projects and workflows.

QGIS is free desktop software. As well as step-by-step instructions on modelling data and creating different maps, attendees will be given help on how to customise QGIS tools and features. Useful guidance on how to find and use open source data will also be provided, to help members identify opportunities to expand or diversify their services.

The course will be friendly and relaxed. If you are a CMA member and interested in attending, you can find out more and register with Clear Mapping Company HERE.

If there is demand, ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Advanced’ QGIS courses will be offered to follow on.
