As part of the UK Space Agency’s funded ‘Regional Support Package’, designed to help boost regional businesses to harness the power of space technologies and satellite applications, the South West Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications is currently offering various fully funded opportunities for mining and geoscience companies within Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.

One of these opportunities is a place on a fully funded Business Design Sprint. This is a tailored business evolution programme for businesses at key inflection points, to help with satellite-enabled Customer Validation, Product Development, Commercialisation Strategies, Business Growth or Investor Readiness. These sprints are perfect for businesses in mining and geoscience who have ideas and desires to start working with space tech companies, using satellite data and offering space enabled technology as part of their products, services and operations. There are limited numbers of these sprint sessions, so if you would like an informal chat about engaging with the SWCoESA do get in touch with Mining Lead Alice Bird.

Another fantastic opportunity available to South West based geo/mining business through the regional support package is Technical Advice & Support from satellite technology experts. This fully funded consultancy time with our Technical Experts in Remote Sensing, Earth Observation and Satellite Communications could include anything from a casual chat to ask questions about what space technology is available today, through to advice and brainstorming of your existing ideas to apply space tech in your business. Options include beneficial one-to-one sessions, group meetings, and challenge workshops, to discuss your ideas, opportunities, and accelerate your innovations empowered by satellites. If you come out of the consultancy sessions with the experts with innovative ideas for using space tech in your business, the Satellite Applications Catapult and SWCoESA is available to support your endeavours with more technical support, business support and support on finding funding to go through with your ideas.

Please contact our Mining Lead, Alice Bird (a.p.bird@exeter.ac.uk), who will be happy to discuss our Business Design Sprints, arrange initial meetings with our Technical Experts, and explore other business support opportunities further.
