On 1 February 2024, representatives from 50 organisations attended the launch of the Geo-Resources Strategic Sector Strengthening project, hosted at the University of Exeter Penryn Campus. This ca. £1M project, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, will be shaped by the voices of geo-resources organisations and aims to create a foundation for a self-sustaining cluster body to continue the legacy of CIoS as a UK mining centre and international example of innovative and best practice.

Please complete the Geo-Resources Sector Needs Questionnaire by 19 February 2024, to share your view on what is needed to develop a resilient geo-resources sector and self-sustaining business cluster. These survey results will:

  • Influence how the money is spent
  • Allow project partners to identify barriers to growth and opportunities to collaborate
  • Help plan a roadmap for sector development in line with Good Growth Principles.

The University of Exeter has been commissioned to deliver the project with delivery partner Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals and strategic partner Cornwall Mining Alliance. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
